Patient-Centered Research

Last summer,  CPNOW and CPRN were hosts of Research CP a comprehensive program to develop a patient-centered research agenda for the CP community.

The results are documented in a white paper published in Developmental Medicine and Child Neurology. You may freely share this publication.  Thus, please help us circulate these community priorities.

During June’s in-person workshop, twenty of the highest ranking unique ideas were further discussed and analyzed.

The top three research ideas (summarized):

1. Aging with CP

2. The best long-term exercise/strength training strategies for all levels of CP

3. Evaluate which interventions (surgeries, injections, medications and therapies, orthotics, equipment and training) produce the best functional outcomes

  • Also noteworthy were participants’ emphasis on improved participation, lifespan research and long term studies.
